Background: Human resources are the most valuable strategic assets of any organization; their efficient management is critical for survival in a competitive global market. This study investigates the interrelationship between the Human Resource Development (HRD) climate, job satisfaction, and demographic variables in the sugar industry of Andhra Pradesh.
Methods: Utilizing a sample of 368 employees from sugar mills, the research evaluates how personal factors such as age, education, and work experience influence perceptions of HRD mechanisms (training, performance appraisal, and career planning).
Results: Findings indicate that while general HRD practices relate positively to organizational values, specific mechanisms like career planning are often perceived poorly. Statistical analysis using Chi-Square tests reveals that Age, Cadre, and Department are significant predictors of HRD climate perception, whereas Gender and Education show less significant influence.
Conclusion: The study concludes that fostering a favourable HRD climate is a prerequisite for achieving the employee satisfaction necessary for the sugar industry's growth in Andhra Pradesh.
