ABSTRACT

Background: Health science education imposes a physiological tax on students, often degrading wellness behaviours. These correlations are documented in Western contexts, specifically the socio-academic load within the Indian education system.

Objectives: We examined the associations among lifestyle behaviours and academic self-efficacy.

Methodology: A cross-sectional study was used to assess 332 health science students via an anonymous online questionnaire.

Findings: A positive correlation was identified among healthy lifestyle behaviours and academic self-efficacy (r = 0.349, p < .001).

Conclusion: Lifestyle is a foundational determinant of academic success. Thus, incorporating wellness initiatives into health education curricula enhances overall wellness and academic engagement.

Keywords: Lifestyle factors, perceived academic performance, health students, physical activity, stress management.
