Development And Validation Of UV-Spectrophotometric Method For The Estimation Of Silodosin In Bulk Drug And Pharmaceutical Dosage Form: An Eco-Friendly Approach

ABSTRACT

Silodosine is used for the treatment of symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The presented study is simple, rapid, validated and environment friendly UV–Visible spectrophotometric method for analysis of Silodosin in bulk and pharmaceutical formulation. Ethyl lactate, a biodegradable and low-toxicity green solvent was used, in combination with water (70:30 v/v), eliminating the demand for hazardous solvents such as methanol and acetonitrile. Silodosin shows a maximum absorbance (λmax) at 269 nm in the proposed solvent. The linear range, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 10-50, 0.5m and 1.63 μg/ml respectively. The method was found to be specific when applied with some excipients and accurate enough to be applied in capsule formulation.
