ABSTRACT

Positive Psychotherapy is a therapy designed at helping people with Major Depressive Disorder by focusing on increasing positive feelings like happiness, hope, and engagement rather than only decreasing negative symptoms. Research shows PPT can increase these positive emotions and decrease depression symptoms in the short term, with effectiveness similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). But, there is limited proof on how well these effects last with time. More high-quality research with follow-up are required to better understand its long-term effects and how best to combine PPT with other treatments. PPT offers a hopeful method as a complementary therapy that supports patient's complete wellbeing and recovery, not only by treating symptoms but also by creating positive mental health. This review highlights the current evidence and calls for further research to fully confirm the role of PPT in controlling depression effectively.
